English pattern for 3 monsterfriends appliques.
General Information for all 3 monsters:
Yarn: I used different colours of Nizza (Steinbach Wolle) , 100% cotton; Schachenmayr nonomotta divari (31% polyacryl,30% polyester, 20% new wool, 14% alpaca) in pink (for the hair only)
You only need a small amount of yarn for each monsterfriend. This is the perfect pattern to use up small yarn balls!
Hook: 3mm
Supplies: scissor, tapestry needle, white felt, small amount of white thread to sew on the teeth
stitches used: chains (ch), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), treble crochet (tc), slip stitch (ss)

Shaggy, the purple hairy fun monster
Body: crochet in rows
1. chain 11
2. 10 sc
3. – 7. ch1, 10 sc
8. ch1, 2tog, 6 sc, 2tog
9. ch1, 8 sc
10. ch1, 2tog, 4 sc, 2tog
11. ch1, 6 sc
12. ch1, 2tog, 2 sc, 2 tog
13. ch1, 4 sc
14. ch1, crochet 1 sc in each stitch around the whole monster, make 2 sc in cornerstitches.
Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Feet:
1. make a loop at the beginning of the first row
2. *3 dc in one stitch, ss in next stitch* repeat until you have 4 shells
Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Eye: crochet in rounds
1. magic ring, ch 1, 4 sc, ss in first sc
2. ch1, 2 sc in each stitch (8 sc), ss in first sc
Fasten off, leave a long tail to sew the eye on the body!
Embroider the pupil with a few stitches and sew the eye on the body. Embroider the second eye with a cross-stitch.
Mouth:
Embroider the mouth with a few stitches.
Tooth:
Cut a small piece out of the white felt and sew it onto the work.
Hair:
Make 4 threads, each about 8 cm long.
Pull one end of a thread through a hole between 2 stitches in the last row on the head, pull the second end through the next hole in the row. Repeat for all 4 threads, fix them on the backside of the work with a few stitches.

6. ch1, 2 tog, 10 sc
7. + 8. ch1, 10 sc
9. ch1, 2tog, 6 sc, 2 tog (8sc)

11. ch1, 2 tog, 5 sc, 2 x 2sc in one stitch
12. ch1, 2 sc in one stitch, 5 sc, 2 tog
13. 7 sc, 2 sc in one stitch

19. ch1, one sc in each stitch around, 2 sc in corner stitches, 2 tog at the pass between back and tail.
Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Feet:
Pull a loop in the 3rd stitch from the tail in the first row, 4 hdc in one stitch, 4 ss over the next four stitches, 4hdc in one, ss in next, 4 hdc in one, ss, fasten off.
Spikes:
1. loop in on one stitch on the head.
2. 2x * 5dc in one stitch, skip 1, ss, skip 1,*
3. 2x * 5 hdc, skip 1, ss, skip 1*
4. 1 hdc, 2 dc in one stitch, 2 tc in one stitch, ch 3, ss in the same stitch as the tc!
Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Eye and mouth: Embroider with a few stitches.
Spots: 3 x
magic ring, ch1, 4 sc, ss in first sc.
Leave a long tail when fasten off to sew the points on the body.
The Watcher, the “all seeing eye”
Body and feet: crochet in rounds
1. magic ring
2. ch1, 10 sc, ss in first sc
3. ch1, 2 sc in each stitch around, ss in first sc (20 sc)
4. ch2, *2 hdc in one, 1 hdc in next* repeat for the complete round, ss in first hdc (30 hdc)
5. ch2,1 hdc in each stitch around (30 hdc)
6. feet: ch2, 1 hdc in same stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch, ss in the next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in one, 2 hdc in one, ss
Eyestalk:
1. magic ring
2. ch1, 6 sc, ss in ifrst sc
3. ch1, 2 sc in each stitch around, ss in first sc (12 sc)
4. ch1, * 1 sc, 2 sc in one stitch* repeat fro the whole round, ss in first sc
5. ch1, 3 sc
6. – 11. ch1, 3 sc
12. leave a long tail, sew it onto the body
13. make a round of sc around the eyestalk. Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Eye:
1. magic ring
2. ch1, 5 sc, ss in first sc
3. ch1, 2 sc in each stitch, ss in first sc (10 sc), leave a long tail, fasten off.
4. Embroider the pupil with a black thread. Sew the eye on the top of the eyestalk.
Mouth and teeth:
Embroider the mouth in black with a few stitches. Cut out two triangles of the white felt, sew it onto the mouth with a few stitches.
